Running is as much a mental game as a physical one. Keeping your mind interested while running the same track day in, day out is just as important as building physical strength.

Running Apps

One way to keep it interesting is with a running app for your iPhone or Android. Whether you want to try out new routes, strive to be faster or have better endurance, there are a range of running apps – such as RunKeeper, Strava Run or Endomondo.

Training Watch

Many running apps can be combined with a sport training watch which syncs to monitor your heart rate, steps taken and calories burned.

Armband

Now that you’re running a longer distance, you phone, keys and maybe some coins jiggling around in your pocket are probably proving quite annoying. An armband that easily fits around your bicep can hold all of that.

Running Shirt

Finding the right running shirt can make your run more comfortable. It's important that the shirt isn't too tight, as this can impact circulation and cause discomfort while running. Shirts are made from a range of materials for you to choose including fabrics that pull moisture from the skin – reducing rubbing and potential chafing, sun protection and breathable panels. In the end it comes down to personal choice and comfort.

And of course, always apply sunscreen and wear a hat and sunglasses for sun protection while training.
